Lost & Found Pets

Is your cat lost?  Or have you found a cat?  The Cat Connection is now partnering with Petco Love Lost to reunite lost pets with their owners.  Please go to https://lost.petcolove.org/ to report your pet missing, report a found pet, or register your pet in case they go missing in the future.  Please also contact The Cat Connection at info@thecatconnection.org or 781-899-4610 to provide us with the same information you put on Petco Love Lost.

Petco Love Lost is a new, searchable national database that uses patented facial recognition technology to make finding lost pets quicker and easier. This simple-to-use tool will be easily accessible to participating animal organizations nationwide, as well as any pet parent or person who finds a lost pet. Uploaded photos of a missing dog or cat are immediately scanned to determine whether the lost pet is at a participating shelter or with a neighbor in the community.

Additional Steps to Take to Find Your Lost Pet

Work the neighborhood

Speak with neighbors, postal carriers, landscapers, and anyone else in the vicinity who might’ve seen your pet and post your lost pet flyer in local vet offices and other community spots (grocery stores, municipal buildings, etc.) Recruit friends and family to speed up and widen the search. Remember: 67% of households are pet owners and many will be glad to help.

Register your pet on Petco Love Lost

Upload a picture of your lost pet, then search the Petco Love Lost database. Sign up to receive alerts about your pet, create a digital lost pet flyer to post on local social media pages (Facebook, Nextdoor), and distribute via your email contacts (think friends, family, neighborhood listservs).

Check the chip

If your pet is microchipped, verify/update your information with your microchip manufacturer, then search the Petco Love Lost database by microchip number. Make sure you’re reachable in the event your pet is found.

Make a call

Most shelters list found pets on Petco Love Lost, but we can’t guarantee every shelter in your area participates, so make sure you file a lost pet report directly with your local shelter, as well as search and visit local shelters.
