Would you consider adopting a couple of cats who aren’t kittens anymore? How about a couple of sisters? If you can’t adopt, then would you consider fostering? I know about two cats who would be perfect for you! That would be me and my sister and we are beautiful really soft young adult cats that would really like to find someplace that we could call our own. So let me tell you about us, okay?
First, my name is Niblet and I’m a female cat and I have a sister named Needle. Some folks wonder how the cats of The Cat Connection come by our names. It all has to do with where we were wandering when the good people took us in. We were found on a street starting with the letter “N.” That’s the system and the volunteers aren’t allowed to re-use names so sometimes they have to get creative! I think I’m called Niblet because I’m the smallest. We each have short black fur. Everyone says it’s the softest fur around. We’re pretty proud of it! There are other black cats here in our foster home, but if you shut your eyes and we all gather round and you pet us all-you can pick us out by how soft our fur is.
Some people won’t adopt black cats because there’s a silly superstition that we bring bad luck. That means there are a lot of black cats left in shelters. We definitely do not have the power to bring bad luck. Maybe we just don’t catch the eyes of people because we don’t have fancy markings like the tabby, calico, and tuxedo cats. If you have a problem thinking about black cats then maybe you could think of us as little black panthers. Maybe that would make us seem more exotic!
I’m here to say that we don’t need fancy markings-we have personality plus! You just have to give us a chance and get to know us. The person writing this all down for me (because I can’t hold a pen) told me she has a black cat herself and that her black cat snuggles in bed with her every night. That sounds awesome. I don’t think life could get much better than that. We want the things that other cats want like food, water, clean litter, play time, companions, and lots of love. I don’t think that is too much to ask for. Oh and someplace warm. Warm is always good.
My sister and I like to be petted just like most other cats. We like to be around people. We don’t think we’d like living with dogs or really young kids but we think we’d like older kids. We really like sleeping on a comfy bed. We’re very friendly. We might be kind of shy until we get to know you and adjust to our new home. We’re healthy. If I do say so myself-there’s not a thing wrong with us. We just need a loving home.
We were born in September of 2012 so we’ve been waiting a really long time for a forever home. Please fill out an application and come to meet us. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! We also have a brother named Noodle and he is looking for a Forever or a Foster Home too. He would like to feel like someone loves him. It’s not that where we are is a bad thing. It’s just that a new long term Foster Home or a Forever Home would be better and it would make room for other cats and kittens that need a place to go too. And we promise to only bring good luck!
