Meet Virginia, the Brave Mama Cat, with The Cat Connection!

When Virginia was surrendered to The Cat Connection, we knew she was pregnant and placed her in a foster home. While this was the foster parents’ first experience with a pregnant cat, they were highly attentive to Virginia’s health. This proved critical as, after giving birth to two kittens, they realized that she needed medical attention and rushed her to the emergency hospital. The hospital staff saw that she had three more kittens to deliver and required an emergency C-section. Sadly, one was stillborn and one did not respond to resuscitation efforts, but thanks to the incredible efforts of the dedicated veterinary team, one more precious kitten joined Virginia and her little family.

As if that weren’t enough, Virginia’s challenges continued when she developed an abscess in her mammary glands. Due to the medication required to treat her abscess, she could no longer nurse her kittens. Thankfully, her amazing foster parents were up for the task of co-parenting the kittens, taking on round-the-clock bottle feedings with the kittens. Virginia then developed a second abscess, this one requiring surgery to drain, followed by another course of medication which again meant she couldn’t nurse her kittens.

But here’s the heartwarming news: Virginia is on the mend and has continued to be a loving and attentive mother, grooming them and teaching them how to be cats. Her kittens are happy, playful, and thriving, all under the loving care of their foster parents and the support of The Cat Connection.

The cost of Virginia’s extensive medical care, including the two surgeries and additional hospital visit, has reached a staggering $8,000, and this is where we need your support.
