Any time of the year is the ideal time to celebrate saving a life and welcoming a new
furry friend into your home through adoption. Throughout November, we call special attention to
all the older residents patiently waiting in animal shelters. November is National Adopt A Senior
Pet Month.
As the cold weather approaches, the days become shorter, and you begin spending more
time indoors, a visit to your local animal shelter to find a new, full-grown cat companion to
cuddle and care for may be just what you need.
Senior cats are the least likely to be adopted of all the friendly felines looking for a home.
And yet, unlike their frisky, younger kitten counterparts who require lots of time and attention,
these older cats are the ones who are all set and ready to go. Most of them have already enjoyed
the love and companionship in a welcoming home and will be quick to adapt to their new
surroundings while remembering the basics of good behavior, like using the litter box, not
scratching the furniture, and what it takes to get along with others. These seasoned professionals
in people-pleasing are generally calmer and more apt to want to lounge the chilly days away with
whomever welcomed them into their home.
Help us celebrate National Adopt a Senior Pet Month by visiting The Cat Connection and
choosing an adult cat to bring into your home to add some warmth to the upcoming winter days.
