Samantha

Samantha

Hi.  My name is Samantha, but my friends call me Sam.  I am a beautiful brown tabby girl, about three and a half years old and I am living with a foster family right now.  My foster mom and dad are helping me search for my forever home.

I spent some months on the street in Waltham before The Cat Connection came to the rescue.  A wonderful lady was feeding me outside at her house.  One day, I could feel a storm was coming, so somehow I found a way into that wonderful lady’s basement for shelter.  That is when she called someone from The Cat Connection to come and get me.

The next day, they took me to see a veterinarian to make sure that I was okay.  I got a clean bill of health, and I am now up to date on my vaccines.  I know I belonged to someone at one time, because the doctor told me I am spayed, and I have a microchip.  But when the doctor’s office checked the number, they found the microchip is not registered under anybody’s name, so there is no way to find my previous owner and ask them why I ended up on the street alone.  I guess that registration part is pretty important, huh?

By now, you must want to know more about me.  Well, I can say for sure that my nicest quality is that I am a lap cat.  That’s right!  I am a true lap cat!  I have been keeping my foster mom and dad’s laps warm since I moved in with them.  I can tell they really enjoy having me around to keep them warm.  When I am on their lap, I like to stretch my front legs out and make muffins in the air.  Isn’t that cute?  I love to be petted, and my coat is really thick and soft.  I like having my head rubbed and scratched, and when someone’s hand strokes from my head all the way down to my tail.  I can be picked up, too, if you need to move me around.

I have a sweet, soft voice that sounds almost like a kitten.  Sometimes I make a sound that is a meow combined with a growl.  A meowl.  That’s funny!  My foster mom says I sound like a lion cub.  I love to rub against her and dad all the time.  I have some toys to play with, but I am not really interested in those right now.  I do not know if I ever played with toys.  Maybe I could learn from you.

When I first got here, I was really scared.  I think living on the street made me nervous around noises and people walking by or coming up from behind me.  I am still a little scared of new things, but I am getting better every day.  If you want to be my new mommy or daddy, you need to have patience with me at first and try not to overwhelm me.  I might do best in one room at first so that I could get used to the smells and sounds in my new home.  Then I can be introduced to the rest of the house, maybe a little at a time.  I think if you take a chance on me, you will be happy you did.  I am looking for someone who has lots of love to give.  Do you want to meet me to see how sweet and loving I am?  Maybe you can fall in love with me and we can be lifelong friends.

One more thing, I do not know if I have ever lived with kids or dogs or other cats, but maybe I would be willing to give it a try.  I know one thing for sure.  I never want to go outside again.  So if you want me to be your new love, you need to promise never to let me outside.  Okay?  I hope I can meet you soon, and we can live happily ever after.
