Sebastian

Sebastian

They call me Sebastian and here is my tale. Once upon a time I had a home, but not too long ago I found myself out on the street fending for myself. I ran across some other cats – they called themselves feral – and I started hanging around with them hoping to find some food. There was a lady who would leave food for them and I followed them every day hoping for something to eat. This food lady saw me, was quite taken with me and I wanted to go live with her, but… she already had other cats and dogs living with her and no room for me. I was so disappointed. Life wasn’t easy for me out there and I never had enough to eat. The other cats wouldn’t let me near their food, so I grew thin and my once beautiful fur started to fall out. I went from a handsome kitty to a scrawny, scruffy looking street cat.

One day the people from Cat Connection came and rescued me. They posted my picture so maybe we could find my previous owners, but no luck. However, another lady saw my picture and said she wanted me to be hers. How exciting! Except… her husband said they already had too many cats (I didn’t even know that was possible). So here I am now living at the Cat Connection until my forever people find me. The other cats here are OK, I guess. Their antics amuse me and they can sometimes be a bit hooliganish – while I am definitely more composed and dignified.

I wasn’t real pretty to look at when I got here, but I’ve put on some weight and my coat is slowly returning to its previous splendor. If I must say so myself, I am one good looking dude. I’ve often overheard the volunteers talking about me (I pretend to be asleep so I can eavesdrop) and bandying about such words as “charming, handsome, a real character”, and “loaded with personality”. One of the volunteers even told me I should be on the cover of Cat Fancy – not sure what that means exactly, but she seemed quite sure of it. It’s thought that I might have some Maine Coon in me as I have impressively sturdy legs and feet, and these wonderful sweeping tufts of fur coming from my ears. I love chin scratches, feather toys and chicken! Oh my God, chicken! Our special Sunday nite treat is succulent, freshly poached chicken breast distributed by a volunteer who can only be described as oblivious to my extreme need for this treat. I must frequently voice my displeasure loudly lest she dole it all out to the “hooligans”. That’s another thing – you will never have to read my mind. I’m always happy to speak up and let you what needs to be done.

Please don’t think though that I’m just another pretty face. I’m very serious about finding my forever home. I had one once. Then the possibility of a home was dangled in front of me again twice more only to be snatched away. I could be happy being your one and only, or I could even live with another mild mannered feline companion or two. I suppose I might be able to tolerate one of those canine creatures, as long as they respected my awesomeness. In either case, I have so much love and devotion to give and time is being wasted here. Come in for a visit why don’t you? And bring chicken. Poached please.
